western sahara fabric :-)

I felt in love a few years ago with this beautiful hand dyed cotton voile....

...usually worn like a wraparound dress by the women in the Western Sahara. Colourful, light and airy...could be any dress more elegant and comfortable for the desert?

I created last summer the first double layered caftan dress from one of the fabrics, every piece is unique in colour and texture...the next, hot and sunny summer is coming soon for sure... ;-)

..this is one of my own favourite dresses, light aqua with a hint of light safran yellow and beautiful geometric bandhani style pattern.....it goes perfect with the lemon yellow silk scarf, a glass of fresh mint tea and the cute kitten ;-)

...this is my favourite found from my summer vacation in Morocco...the blue, blue indigo dyed cotton....fantastic fabric for new projects...I love the decent smell of salt and desert dust before washing it, carries me always away to the Sahara blue(s).....

oriental bread inspiration :-)

....fresh bread anyone?
...whilest we went out for some olive, garlic and spice shopping in the souk of Essaouira, this very friendly man offered me the most delicious, fresh homemade bread.

I am still fascinated by the colour scheme of this traditional moroccan bread (chobz) ...the colour scheme goes from ivory, cream, champagne, beige, taupe, cinnamon into clove and chocolate brown...this is so nice just for watching it...I imagined watching myself sewing double layered cream and champagne silk skirts decorated with some traditional moroccan lace and cute little buttons....and glassbead embroidery....isn´t this magic?

... just by some fresh bread, spicy olives and sipping fresh, aromatic mint tea....and enjoy your day :-)...ahhh and for my opinion... all the copycats should may be once take a walk through a moroccan market..and will find there so much inspiration for themselves, so they have no longer to "copycat".....!!

Essaouira house secret :-)

...a little house tower like a little kasbah with a great sea view, a hidden garden behind a blue, blue painted door....no windows...is there living anybody inside, probably the cats of Essaouira?

...every time I passed by, questions over questions to ask for....thousand an one thoughts are going through my mind....
I can imagine me in a little cute studio, colourful fabrics, old beads and my sewing machine in there.....sewing some nice caftans and hooded djellabahs.....listening to the waves and the sea gull...take a deep breath of the salted air....may a cute little cat visit me from time to time...the wind take from time to time some fine Gnaoua music sound to my ears....
...may I could plant a nice palm tree in the secret garden behind the blue, blue door like this huge one??... and a few little mint plants for fresh moroccan mint tea at any time I wish to drink....a lemon and orange tree....a blue, blue tiled fountain...the blue(s) is still with me....
May the blue, blue door will open itself at the next time I will passing by and let me know more about the little house secret in my beloved blue and white city of Essaouira :-)
