mind blue(s)

...or where is my mind??
I asked this question myself the last few days so many times....I feel like sealed in little colourful pigment bottles at one time....

...or like a little confused ghost in a bottle filled with spices and flowers....I love the smell of the orange flowers...

....and sometimes like a little camel caravaning in the desert....

...by the way...we decided to painting our living room soon...guess what colour?? something between bright ultramarine and cobalt......the sahara blue(s) probably included....;-) ;-)
happy weekend :-)

the sunrise over Marrakech...

I went to the airport, very early tuesday morning...I forgot my clock, my contact lens liquid, my face lotion at home, was afraid not to catch my flight because the nice old man in the hotel had spoken a different arabic dialect than me...and I don´t knew if he understood that I want to have a wake up "knock on the door" at six in the morning....
so I went to bed late at night and wished always that he please had understood me...please, please, please....
I woke up very early in the morning, silence and darkness everywhere around me, I watched the sparkling stars in the ice cold sky....felt like in the desert.....the muezzin at the Koutoubia called for the morning prayer....and the nice old man knocked on the door :-)
I watched the sunrise over the atlas mountains in front of the Marrakech airport before checked in....
...so many thoughts and inspiration in my mind.....
...about a wonderful person, a friend who´s very sick that we don´t know how long he will be with us -this touched me so much-....
...about the wonderful late afternoon walk in the Marrakech Bazar with Maryam I enjoyed so much....about the always warm welcome in my beloved country Morocco....about all the hand stitches I had done the last few days..the little spoken gifts I received....about all the nice persons I had meet the last few days...about all the wonderful colours and the fantastic artwork in this country...and about so much more I can´t describe in words....
...and about the crazy policeman in front of the airport who came next to me and whispered "nti suena bzaaf"means "you are beautiful"....."oh my...." ??!!
...especially this vacation was mind changing....Thanks God so much that I could live my life like it is, thank you Morocco...I´ll be back soon....:-)

marrakech street view

after all the sewing work had finished, I head back last monday morning to Marrakech.....

...and stayed for one night in a little hotel next to the Koutoubia....

...could you believe that I always enjoy this view??

I can´t explain why I really like the noisy street scene....watching the always crazy driving taxi drivers, women wearing beautiful coloured hooded djellabahs, the little green park with the green, green palm trees and the feeling just "to be in between in magic Marrakech" :-)

moroccan sewing weekend :-)

...the lovely Lallamira girls treated me well....

...with lots of pots filled with fresh mint tea....

...delicious organic breakfast and aromatic coffee and milk...
...the sewing goes on...

..the rain came down from time to time on the little palm tree in the patio....

...a little cute visitor passed by....wondering what I am doing all day long...

...stitches over stitches....

...hundred little buttons and handmade moroccan lace...

...a few little safran coloured glassbeads found its way on the collar (thank you, Rachid for this little gift) :-)

...finally after hundreds of handstitches...

...two beautiful and shimmering silk jackets blowed in the early morning wind...kissed by the moroccan morning sun...
...made with love for lovely Felicitas :-) ...the end :-)

good morning essaouira :-)

...after 3 days back home in Germany I arrived save back yesterday in Morocco :-)

...this weekend will be my second sewing weekend in morocco without desaster.....

I continued sewing with my project for my friend Felicitas and both of the outfits are growing and now it looks like that I finish it within the next two hours *yippie* on monday I will heading back to Marrakech and will meet one or two of our friends and got out for a little Babouche shopping again. ...
I wish all of you a nice weekend.....a special thanks and lots of love to my wonderful husband who is so unterstanding about my work :-)

fresh bazar findings :-)

There is another, different way to go for shopping in the bazar of Marrakech...I always love to look for new Babouche colours, fabrics and tassels but there is so much more to explore....

...and here is the latest "jabane collection" :-) sweet and sticky moroccan nougat made from roasted sesame seeds, almonds, peanuts, coconuts and honey....flavoured with orange flower water and spices.
I love the green nougat made from pistachios and the white orange flower flavoured one with a glass of fresh mint tea :-)

..may you like something fresh? Try the fresh pineapple and coconut slices...delicious!!

Finally I bought some different olives from Essaouira and salted lemon preserve, too. The salted lemons are going perfect with the Tajine, a traditional moroccan dish cooked in a pottery with chicken, green olives, spices and vegetables or the everyday moroccan salad made from cucumber, tomato, red onion, cumin and chopped salted lemon.
Have you ever seen olives in pink, purple and cream shades? Sometimes simple things like the colours of olives can be the inspiration for the next project......:-)

good morning marrakech :-)

I just arrived from my two day sewing trip in Essaouira in Marrakech.....and need some strong and aromatic coffee, please..... :)
the sewing adventure in Essaouira became a desaster.....the old sewing machine had broken the electricity down....(not the city at all, just in one house.....)....I asked myself so many times how could I finish this huge project, soon.....now I know the answer....first of all, I am going for breakfast right now and shopping in the Marrakech Bazar :)

P.S.: more pictures coming soon......

on the way to....

.....???

I´ll be going this way tomorrow...

...passing by the magic carpets.....

..does I probably get lost in the desert? ...sometimes I wish.....

I will probably get lost next to this place, surounded by hundreds of magic carpets....and me in between sitting with a little sewing machine, bright lemon yellow and fresh lime green silk, working on a beautiful moroccan inspired dress....:-)
..this is not a dream....it´s like a dream comes true for me...working over the weekend in morocco....but this is bittersweet because I still don´t have all the stuff I need for finishing this project...and it has to be finished this sunday evening.....

P.S.....

...there´s another suzani lover, living somewhere in a olive groove in Marrakech....and she´s nominated for the best middle east or africa blog.....

Please, take a seat, take glass of fresh mint tea and come with me on a fantastic journey deep into the heart of Morocco.....after exploring her colourful blog, written straight from her heart, may would you please vote for lovely Maryam, too? :-)

magic suzani laundry :-)

last tuesday, I went very excited to my "favourite" office...the customs....and so what....a little parcel sewed in cream cotton and sealed with red wax waited for me *yippie*...a very friendly guy (probably turban headed?) in Uzbekistan had send some surprises to me....

... the little parcel was filled with bright and colourful vintag suzani fabrics with little teapot embroidery and fantastic patterns....

after I finished my studio work I decided first of all, doing some suzani laundry washing....and something magic happened....

the suzani before washing

the suzani after washing...it faded and dyed itself from white into a fantastic lavender and mauve shade and the embroidery got a mysterious dark look...WOW :-) ...thank you, my magic washing machine! :-) :-)

inspiration :-)

a few weeks ago before Holly left Germany, she visited me in my studio and we created a little inspiration board with her favourite colours....and this inspired me also to create my first mood board, too. I never did this before because the inspiration for new projects and colours is always running nonstop through my mind like crazy little pictures.... ;-)

I am still in the blue(s), since last summer I believe that the blue is may becoming a more popular colour in the fashion this year than the past seasons. Bright cobalt goes perfect with a hint of citrine yellow, teal and turquoise and always goes perfect with black and white basics.
oriental pomegranate red, deep mysterious indigo blue with teal and bright glacier blue....I love the vibrant dark red and pink with chalky turquoise shades...
bright safran and citrine shades with frosted turquoise for a fresh summer look....:-)
I prefer using for all my fashion and home projects mainly linen, silk and cotton in different shades, dyes and textures...glassbead and sparkling crystal embroidery....tassels and vintage trade beads for jewellery and metallic blue linnen for bags, handmade moroccan lace and cute little buttons are going perfect for silk skirts, caftanwear and coats...ikat fabric, vintage suzanis and handloomed moroccan vegetable silk for home projects with a oriental twist ;-)
