sunday morning....

and it´s still quiet outside... the birds in the big maple tree in front of our balcony are sleepy? The cat´s are sleeping too....an me...sipping black cardamom mocca, sweet and strong as I like my coffee usually :-)
I had collected during my travels this year so much beauty :-) fabrics, beads, tassels and other treasuries...
and it´s always hard to resist the temptation if I have a lot of custom made orders to sew...not to create one or two tassel necklace in between... ;-)
a sweet friend ordered last week a matching tassel necklace to a shimmering purple and hot pink silk skirt, she bought a few months ago at my place ...and this was a good excuse to create some more ;-)
I also updated my dawanda-onlineshop last friday night and added new summer scarfs and tassel necklace :-) new pillows are coming during this week...some beautyful fabrics from countries far away received me yesterday....stay tuned!! :-)

happy sunday!

Henna....

chez Habiba :-)
every time I spent in Essaouira, I try to visit my sweet friend Habiba. She´s a real master artist of the traditional Henna painting and she also has a impressive knowledge about the moroccan beauty traditions, spices and finest handmade cosmetics.
I meet her first in 2005 and she done the most beautiful henna painting on my hands I never had before...
she also know, that I love the traditional patterns...
and decorated my hands during my last stay a few weeks ago with another stunning painting :-)
She also offers finest, handmade cosmetics in her shop based on old Berber beauty traditions like rose scented argan oil lotion, savon beldi (black hammam soap), a nice range of handmade solid soaps and my favourite product "Ghassoul" a delicate rose scented mineral clay from the Atlas mountains mixed with soap for a relaxing shower :-)

Colourful pigments and spices are also available for sale in her shop, in case you want to change the wallpaint at your home and give your home cooking a moroccan flavour.

If you visit Essaouira once, please don´t miss to visit this nice lady. Her shop is located in a beautiful, little alley in the old medina opposite of the Museum of Essaouira and while you are enjoy a glass of fresh mint tea, it will be a pleasure for her to decorate your hands with beautiful henna patterns :-)

in the countryside...

on a hot, hot sunday...any place, any time, somewhere in morocco....
a blue, blue Taxi...
brought me to two sweet, sweet camels...
I walked a way, black and white tiled....in blue, blue babouches...
watched white, white moroccan beauty...
in between green, green lemon trees...
and old, colourful windows...
tasted delicious food....
in a beautiful kasbah riad....what a bliss!

pink sunday...

in Morocco :-)
once, sweet Maryam took me to this place, some time ago...on a cold evening in january....I remember the hot and sweet tea....
on a hot and sunny sunday in Marrakech....a few time later...
we felt a bit tired....and needed something fresh.....
I took my beloved husband to this pink, pink place....he was so tired.... ;-)
a little fountain splashed, the sunlight drawed little waves on the tiles...cute little birds sang a song....probably in moroccan arabic, I asked myself?

I close my eyes...taste the fresh orange juice....smell the sweet and fresh mint tea....on a pink, pink sunday...silence....somewhere in morocco :-)

want to visit this place, too? Bougainvillea Cafè, 33 rue el Mouassine, Medina Marrakech

happy sunday :-)

gnaoua festival 2009

since the first time we had visited the gnaoua music festival, I am looking forward every year to visit this magic music festival again and again. The city was packed with thousands of like "crazy for the gnaoua music" people...
especially this year I felt over the chair when I found out that one of my favourite musicians, the King of Rai music, Cheb Khaled will join the festival, too :-)
the german WDR orchestra, Cheb Khaled and my all time favourite gnaoua musician Hamid el Kasri at one stage (watch the full video for a proper view over the festival)!! I never enjoyed a concert so much, accompanied by our friends...
and thousands of visitors. After the big concert at the Bab Marrakech stage we went like pilgrims...
to the Essaouira beach...
and enjoyed Hamid Bouchnak on stage until four in the morning... :-)
during the festival time the city is filled with music everywhere...even on a little stage next to the Afriquia gas station.....imagine...a stage next to the gas station!! *hehe* and the Gnaouis played at 11am!!
enjoy a very special dish: the gnaoua menu :-) I love the little drawing...
rasta hair dressed gnaouis strolled in the little alleys of Essaouira...
the final concert: Mazagan :-) I really felt in love with this group since my last stay in Morocco in March. A nice young boy in one of the little Essaouira music shops recommended me their album "doukkala airlines", he told me if I like Darga and Hoba Hoba Spirit, I would love Mazagan, too...
and he was right :-)...
Mazagan rocks!!!!!...
under the blue, blue sky of Morocco :-)

Thanks so much to all our friends for the pleasant stay during the Festival this year, we are looking forward for the next one :-)

P.S.:...searching for a proper video of the Cheb Khaled/Hamid el Kasri concert at Bab Marrakech, please contact me at ranipink@hotmail.de Thanks! :-)
