invitation :-)

next ranipink fashion show...
sunday, 6th of september, 2pm at the Afrikamarkt located in the Scheunenviertel, Steinhude at the Steinhuder Meer near Hannover/Germany

looking forward to meet all of you next weekend :-)

the moroccan love...

and something funny....
I visited my friend Mustapha´s shop in Essaouira last week and felt completely in love....
with the brightest green shades I never had seen before...
and this huge wool carpet...*what a colour* I thought....

...and I want to tell you a little, funny story....the night after I watched all of the carpets I had a dream and jumped scared out of the bed and watched some cockroaches...running over the white blanket....green, red and light brown ones....grabbed a silver sandal and wanted to kill them...then I woke up wondering about the colours of the bugs...no cockroaches...nothing *walou*... just silence in Essaouira.... 3am in the morning and...a guy started singing some gnaoua songs in the alley....no more sleep....the morning after, nerves where somewhere else on my back where it not has to be...and I moved and walked the next 3 days very slowly in the medina....still dreaming of my new, green, green love...and I visited the carpet every day....just to say *hello*...:-)

so take care if you once watch colourful carpets and huge cockroaches at one day..!! :-)

fly, fly away with me little green carpet.... :-)

the wool dyer :-)

last week somewhere in Marrakech....
I went lazy through the Souk and the weather was hot....very hot...everybody was lazy, too...the guys even where too lazy yelling behind every tourist who passed by ;-)
I walked and walked...stopped at this place, watched fascinated the wool dyers work...and wished I can do once this, too...
asked him shy in my *broken* moroccan arabic for taking some pictures...he allowed me to step in the little working space....
filled with that much wool...red was the colour of the day...on this hot, hot Monday in Marrakech.

I left, with a smile on my face, crazy knitting ideas went through my mind...and *felt* into the next shop...and bought little, embroidered felted beads in amazing colours...what a bliss! :-)

on a little stool next to the bright red table and watch with me pictures from moroccan past times....
enjoy a simple and colourful dish, served in little green, green bowls....
drink fresh pressed, sweet orange juice (the moroccan sun is included) and homemade moroccan bread with spicy tomato and avocado spread....
take a look into my book with stories from the tents of the western sahara....and for dessert: fresh fruit salad with a hint of mint :-)
finally we should take the coffee and watching the place in front of the café des épices...and enjoy the sunny and hot day in Marrakech...what a bliss :-)

style of the week :-)

today :-)
I had not blogged about my style of the week for a while...because I am wearing usually always the same style in different colours like my silk skirts and while working in my studio casual linen pants and a basic shirt ;-)
this is my latest project, I had created a black indigo pure linen dress with a heavy glassbead embroidered collar and added the moroccan twist with matching traditional trim, little buttons on the side slashes and trim/crochetwork on the sleeves.
this is the perfect summer dress, very comfortable and also wearable for my morocco travels, on the flight or at work :-)

This kind of dress/tunic is also offered for sale in any silk/pure linen colour and embroidery (custom made) in my Hannover studio :-)

the white gold...

of Essaouira :-)
the first time we had a salad in Essaouira 2005, I tried to find out, how it comes that this simple salad made from green pepper, tomato, olives and onion with green lemon and olive oil tasted so super delicious?
the secret of the salad was the salt :-)
in between traditional pottery and handwoven baskets, a lovely grandpa ;-) is selling the most delicious and aromatic salt I ever tasted. Since that time, we are buying it at every visit and "salted" up our life with a taste of morocco :-)

You will find the little shop next to the fishmarket in the Medina of Essaouira, watch out for the blue mug and buy the "white gold of Essaouira" for a few Dirhams :-) He also offers in his shop for sale wonderful handwoven baskets and beautiful tajines (the traditional moroccan cooking pot) in every size you need.
